The Martian Chronicles is a science fiction fix-up novel, published in 1950, by American writer Ray Bradbury that chronicles the exploration and settlement of Mars, the home of indigenous Martians, by Americans leaving a troubled Earth that is eventually devastated by nuclear war.
This UK edition was published in 1951 under the title "The Silver Locusts"
This is a very nice all-round copy of the UK edition of Bradbury's landmark novel, with two minor caveats.
1) The book is near perfect, very clean with few signs of its 60 year plus age.
However, the previous owner has sheared off the corner of the top right corner of the end-paper, seemingly to remove the inscription of a previous owners name.
Other than that it is an exceptional copy.
2) The dust jacket is also in very good condition for its age...unclipped; a few age spots on the back cover.
No tears or chips.
However, for some reason the previous owner has trimmed the dust jacket very slightly, by a couple of millimetres,
The result is that the cover is slightly shorter than the book. The dust jacket is now covered in a mylar cover, so the effect is negligible, but still needs to be pointed out in the interests of complete transparency.
